Chasing Charley

Mom – the kitchen is SOOOO last week! I’m going for the couch!

I’ve known that Charley was getting awfully bored with the kitchen “area”.  After going outside, I’m having to drag him a little more each day into his fenced off blankets on the floor of the kitchen.  Today after our lunch time visit to the bushes out front, I left him sitting in the living room for just a minute.  I wanted to straighten up his blankets, etc.

Not even 2 minutes later — look where I found the little stinker!  He hopped up on to the couch all by himself!

I’m a very permissive mama — he’s always been on the furniture.  But I wasn’t going to let him go up there so quickly after surgery!  He’s got a 12″ line of stitches….  Sheesh!

We’re off to see Dr. Jim later this afternoon.  There was some redness around the incision and some oozing.  Nothing that smells funky, but I would feel better if Dr. Jim can take a look.  Charley is on an antibiotic, of course, but I wonder if it’s working super well?  I would feel better if we were putting something topical on the incision as well.

We had a great visit! Charley is healing well and we just have to keep doing what we’re doing!! A little seepage, a little seroma, a little temperature, but alright. I’ll take it!

Seromas and swelling are perfectly normal, and a little seepage is to be expected. Sounds like Charley is doing well, thanks for the update!

You totally called it!! I’m glad I went to Dr. Jim for the reassurance, but it’s just seromas & swelling. He’s got a little fluid accumulating in his belly area just beneath the skin & general seepage, but the vet was not overly concerned. He said his healing wasn’t 100% ideal (plus Charley is running a low grade temperature), but he was pleased. Yay!

That’s TOO sweet. Reminds me very much of how Catie likes to take over the couch. We long since abandoned any attempts to keep her off the furniture. It’s just stuff, after all.

Good luck at the vet’s! I’m sure all is well. Charley’s looking amazing. What a beauty.

Oh thank you — that was in August when we were up at my parents’ cabin for the weekend. Charley runs like a wild dog up there, through brush, into the creek, all over the place. Then he shows up at the door exhausted. 😉

Charley is gorgeous! And looks very happy on the couch. Achilles had a lot of seeping/oozing stuff up until day before yesterday – day 16 post amputation. We did have to change antibiotics and had to cleanse it with Nolvasan S (chlorhexiderm). Probably all is well but you’re right – check with the vet! They see this stuff more than I ever will! Happy healing! looking good Charley!

Thanks for your encouragement! I needed a positive story — I’ve read too many bad outcomes!!! Paws crossed that we’ll be just like you guys in another week or two!

That is too cute! The fact he got up there all by himself is a great sign he is feeling better. It took our Ginger close to a month before she was able to get up on her couch all by herself, so I think Charley is ahead of the game.
